Salsa Ball - Background

As far as dress code is concerned, salsa is pretty informal.  For party nights and special occasions people do get dressed up, especially the ladies. But when it was suggested some years ago that I organise a Salsa Ball, I really doubted it would work. Wrong again!  The ladies loved the opportunity to really dress up, and the guys in their DJs provided them with an elegant backdrop.

Over the years I have suggested a change to the format – a salsa class, an alternative dance class, a dance demo, a band perhaps? But the resounding collective voice has been “ No! We just want to get dressed up and come and dance”. So be it. The format for the Salsa Ball is very simple – an opportunity to dump the jeans, T-shirts and trainers, to dress to impress with a theme of Dickie Bows and Diamantes - dickie bows for guys, posh-frocks and sparkles for ladies.

Winter Salsa Ball at Beamish Hall Hotel

Saturday 16 January 2027

The feedback from this year’s Ball has been fantastic. Seems the atmosphere and the mix of people and music really hit the spot.

The general opinion was that the Ball is better held in the New Year rather than just after Christmas. As a result of all the comments I am now delighted to confirm that the next Winter Salsa Ball will be in the Monboucher Suite on Saturday 16 January 2027.

(No, the tickets are not ready yet!!)

A simple yet elegant occasion.

An opportunity to dump the jeans, T-shirts and trainers

and dress to impress.

Once again the theme is

Dickie Bows and Diamantes.

Dickie bows for guys, posh-frocks and sparkles for ladies.

No classes or cabarets, simply a full night of socialising and dancing - mostly salsa of course, plus just a sprinkling of other genres.

Accommodation - Heads Up:

There is a wedding function on that day too. At the moment there are plenty of rooms available for those who like to stay over. Just don’t wait too long to book. Special rates are available for anyone attending the Ball (quote reference Salsa Simplemente).

Salsa Ball FAQs

Do Gentlemen have to wear a Tuxedo or dinner suit?  NO.

The theme is Dickie Bows and Diamantes, a chance to really dress up for the evening.

Ladies spend a lot of time, energy and money preparing for this night. Lots of guys don’t have DJs, but they do have a black or white shirt. So they just need to treat themselves to a bow tie and be a suitably smart backdrop for the glamorous ladies, they'll appreciate it.

Can I pay at the door?  NO. This is a ticket-only function.
